Challenges of Peak Tracking in Information-Rich HPLC Experiments
John Stafford, Eli Lilly and Company
Abstract
Improving productivity and reducing cycle times have been a focus for companies across the pharmaceutical industry. To help meet these goals, chromatographers have defined and implemented strategies for efficient HPLC method development. The experiments typically involve an initial screening step that examines a number of column, aqueous buffer, and organic solvent combinations. The ability to perform fast separations with UV and MS detection, combined with automated switching between columns and eluting solvents, means that data processing can be the slow step in the process. This presentation will highlight the challenges associated with reducing the screening experiment cycle time and demonstrate the utility of ACD/Labs Method Development Suite in this application.
