ACD/Labs Online (I-Lab)
ACD/Labs Online service, otherwise known as ACD/I-Lab or the Interactive Laboratory, has gained a reputation over the years as one of the most innovative online services for prediction. With a list of services including systematic name generation, NMR spectrum and physicochemical property prediction, and online database searches by structure and substructure, this service has become renowned as the one-stop shop for reliable predictions.
The first release of I-Lab, in 1996, saw a Java-based site offering a structure drawing applet and molfile upload for limited prediction and database searches. In 1998 we released a version of I-Lab that allowed semi-automatic connection from ACD/ChemSketch, our FREE PC-based structure drawing package. As a result, we performed over 50,000 predictions and database searches in the following six months. In 2000, the commercial online service was launched. This made available via the internet our industry standard tools for prediction and knowledge management. That same year, we offered free IUPAC naming services for small molecules. In 2001, we expanded the prediction capabilities to include solubility and boiling point predictions. 2002 saw the appearance of the 15N NMR predictor and database, new structure similarity search algorithms, and continued improvements to all other predictors and databases. In addition, ACD/Labs Online (I-Lab) services were further augmented with ACD/Web Librarian to offer a way of browsing and searching analytical data such as the ACD/Public Chromatography Applications Database.
